The unkillable shortlist
Snake plants, ZZ plants, and pothos ask almost nothing. Bright indirect light, a drink when the soil is bone dry, and otherwise your benign neglect. They’d rather you forgot than fussed.
The real killer is love
Most houseplants don’t die of thirst. They drown in good intentions.
Overwatering is the number one cause of plant death. When in doubt, wait. Roots need air as much as water, and dry soil is easier to fix than rot.
Right plant, right corner
Match the plant to the light you actually have, not the light you wish you had. A plant in the right spot mostly takes care of itself — which is the entire point.
Start with one. Keep it alive for a season. Confidence, like greenery, grows.
